As Nathan was in town and keen to see a football match we went for the first time to the Groupama Stadium to see Les Gones – the boys in Lyonnaise dialect.

It’s been a difficult start to the season for OL – bottom of the league, new owners, their manager Laurent Blanc (great French pronunciation guide example) sacked.

What better way to get back to winning ways than against newly-promoted Le Havre?

The pre-match build up was fantastic, the ultras in the Kop Virage Nord were very impressive with their choreographed singing and clapping.

However the match was a disappointment. It was clearly a basement battle. Lyon were bereft of ideas. The sooner new manager and old boy Fabio Grosso starts the better.

Fabio a du travail et cela ne va pas être facile dans cette ambiance… Trop de business et pas assez de sport !
