Moving to France and adapting to life in Lyon
Remember café gourmand? Here is another example for you to enjoy.

Nothing says I live in France more than this, in my opinion:

It is our proof of insurance. I followed the instructions and stuck it on my pare-brise. And now I feel like we have truly arrived.

And then I went from this green square:

To this one.

Regardez cette eglise au coeur de Lyon.

C’est toute petite.

Je ne sais pas si elle est jamais ouverte.
Not sure that works in French but a Sunday stroll to the market on the banks of the Saône resulted in a nice pair of earrings for Cath and this beauty of a book for me.

I’ve been looking for something like it for a while and here it was for an absolute bargain.

And I found these timbres inside – making it even more of a bargain!

So it was finally time to don the obligatory tiny trunks and go for a swim in Lyon.

I booked two tickets to the temporary summer outdoor pool in Parc de la Tete d’Or which is erected for two months in the velodrome. So it was a return to the site of Cameron Norrie’s ATP win but this time for a swim.
When we got there it turned out to be more of a giant paddling pool. Very shallow the whole length of it and with people playing all across it. I managed five lengths.

But it was a very nice way to cool off. And the surrounding area was nicely laid out for a spot of relaxing.

It’s all part of the Between the Rhône and Saône festival this weekend.

Near work.

C’est pas gentil ça.

This green and yellow boat caught my eye – different from the usual craft on the Saône.

My rentré to work today and a lunchtime riverside stroll with a colleague produced a couple of surprises.
A bank of swans on the Saône – 17 of them in fact. Dix-sept cygnes.

And then a teenager – not quite dix-sept ans – but jumping off the underside of the bridge and swimming to the side.

He told us it wasn’t too cold.
Right, look away now if you don’t want to see some holiday photos from our week in Bouc-Bel-Air and trips out with Cath’s sister Sally, nieces Hanna and Lauren and great niece Alma.
